# Voice-Follow Scrolling Enable on-device voice-follow scrolling, understand speech permissions and availability, and recover when the script stops tracking. Source: https://teleprompterfocus.com/docs/voice-follow/ Updated: 2026-11-04 QUICK ANSWER ## How do I make the script follow my voice? Load a script, open Tools and tap Voice, then allow speech and microphone access. Voice-follow requires an eligible trial or subscription and available on-device recognition. ## What voice-follow does Voice-follow matches recognised speech to your script and advances the reading position as you speak. It is designed for reading the written script; long ad-libs, repeated passages and background voices can make matching less reliable. Speech processing runs on your iPhone. Availability depends on the script language, speech permissions and on-device recognition support. The app does not fall back to uploading your audio to a cloud recogniser. Voice-follow requires an eligible trial or active subscription. See [Subscription & Free Tier](https://teleprompterfocus.com/docs/subscription/). ## Start voice-follow 1. Load a non-empty script into the camera. 2. Open **Tools** and tap **Voice**. 3. Allow speech recognition and microphone access when iOS asks. 4. Read the script aloud and check that the text follows before starting a full take. The dock shows **Voice** while voice-follow is active. Tap the Voice tool again to stop it. Use **Pause prompting** in Tools if you need to suspend the script while keeping the recording running. ## Switch back to fixed speed There is no user-adjustable responsiveness setting. If voice-follow does not suit a particular script, stop it and use the words-per-minute control for a predictable pace. Fixed-speed prompting remains useful when rehearsing, speaking over music or delivering a heavily improvised take. See [Prompter Controls](https://teleprompterfocus.com/docs/prompter-controls/) for speed and layout adjustments. ## Help it track your voice - Rehearse in a quiet space without nearby conversation or music. - Use the microphone you intend to record with and check it in [Tools → Mic](https://teleprompterfocus.com/docs/camera-controls/#microphone). - Speak clearly at a comfortable pace and stay reasonably close to the script. - Try a short passage first, especially when changing language or audio equipment. ## If voice-follow is unavailable or loses its place - **No Voice control:** load a script with text first. - **A subscription screen appears:** the feature is locked for the current entitlement. Review your subscription or restore purchases. - **A permission error appears:** check Teleprompter microphone and speech-recognition access in iPhone Settings. - **Recognition is unavailable:** on-device speech support may be unavailable for the current language or device setup. Follow the app error and use fixed-speed prompting meanwhile. - **The text stalls or jumps:** reduce competing noise, check the selected mic and read closer to the script. Use manual prompting if alignment remains unreliable. A speech-recognition failure does not itself stop the video take. Check the recording timer and tap Stop when you want to finish.
