# Creating and Editing Scripts Create and save a script, preview its reading time, load it into the camera, and manage scripts in your local library. Source: https://teleprompterfocus.com/docs/scripts/ Updated: 2026-11-04 QUICK ANSWER ## How do I create and save a script? Open Scripts and tap New script. Write or paste your text, then tap Save or Use in camera; changes are not saved automatically. ## Open a script Tap **Scripts** on the camera screen to open your library. Search for a script or tap its row to open its detail screen. From there, choose **Record with this script**, **Edit**, **Rename**, or **Delete Script**. Related recordings appear below the script actions. ## Create and save 1. Open **Scripts → New script**. 2. Enter a title and type or paste the body. 3. Tap **Reading preview** to check how it reads. The estimated reading time is a guide, not a recording limit. 4. Tap **Save** to keep the script, or **Use in camera** to save it and load the prompter. The editor uses explicit saving. If you leave with unsaved changes, choose whether to keep editing or discard them. If saving fails, use Retry; your draft remains in the editor. ## Edit an existing script Open the script in the library, then tap **Edit**. After making changes, tap **Save** or **Use in camera**. Editing the script does not rewrite videos you have already recorded. ## Format for easier reading Select text in the editor and use the formatting controls for font, font size, bold, underline, strikethrough and colour. Use short paragraphs and visible emphasis where you need a pause or change of tone. The camera has its own [font-size and colour tuning](https://teleprompterfocus.com/docs/prompter-controls/). Rich-text emphasis and non-default text colours can carry into the prompter, so check Reading preview and the camera before a take. To preserve formatting from another app, [import an RTF file](https://teleprompterfocus.com/docs/importing-scripts/). A TXT file contains plain text only. ## Rename a script Open the script detail screen, tap **Rename**, enter a title and tap **Save**. Choose a name you can recognise in search, such as a topic and take date. ## Delete a script Open the script detail screen, tap **Delete Script** and confirm. Deletion cannot be undone in the app. Your existing recordings are managed separately; deleting a script does not delete its videos. ## Keep a separate copy Scripts are stored locally. There is no account or cross-device cloud sync. Keep an external copy of important writing: copy the text into another app, or retain the original TXT or RTF document you imported. Do this before deleting the app or moving to another phone. The [free recording limit](https://teleprompterfocus.com/docs/subscription/) applies when recording a script; the editor can hold longer writing.
